Preparing
for Your
Telehealth
Sessions
In order to make Telehealth therapy most effective for you, here are some things to consider.
Please read this entire page prior to your first session and contact me with any questions or concerns.
❋ PROCESS ❋
A link will be sent to you via email in advance of the session.
Click that link to connect to a video platform.
You can access this link from a computer, cell phone, or any device with that connects to wi-fi or has a cellular connection.
Please ensure your device has a working camera, speaker and microphone. Telehealth sessions are video sessions and we will be able to see each other face to face.
At the beginning of each session, I will ask where you are located (for legal and safety reasons) so be sure to have the address of your location ready.
Please plan to be fully present during therapy - ensure that your space is quiet and free from distractions.
Take a few minutes before session to do whatever is necessary so you can be present (eat, put all devices on silent, finish up work or other tasks, etc.)
Refrain from alcohol, marijuana and other recreational drugs prior to and during our session so you can be fully present.
Be sure you are in one location during session (sessions cannot be conducted while you are driving).
If something comes up during session that you need to attend to (children, pets, work), the session will be paused until you are able to be present.
❋ PLACE ❋
Therapy is likely to cover sensitive topics so make sure you are alone during your session, and in a place where no one can hear you.
Be intentional about creating a space for therapy that feels comfortable and safe. Clients often have fidgets, blankets, sweaters, tea, water, pets, or other things that help them feel relaxed and at ease.
Feel free to wear comfortable clothing, and be sure it is appropriate.
Put the device you are using for session in a place where you do not have to hold it during session.
Ensure that there is enough light in the room that I can see your face well.
